CHARLES DE BOURBON-ROCHE SUR YON-PORTRAIT-P.170 ‘Prince de la Roche sur Von’ [Lord GOWER after CLOUET, 1875]

This scarce original antique print shows a portrait of Charles de Bourbon, Prince de la Roche-sur-Yon, born 1515, died in 1565 in Beaupré, was a prince of the blood of the House of Bourbon. Auto-lithographed from the originals at Castle Howard, Yorkshire.

Made by Lord Ronald Gower after Francois Clouet. Lord Ronald Charles Sutherland-Leveson-Gower (2 August 1845 – 9 March 1916), known as Lord Ronald Gower, was a Scottish Liberal politician, sculptor and writer from the Leveson-Gower family. Francois Clouet (c. 1510-1572), son of Jean Clouet, was a French Renaissance miniaturist and painter, particularly known for his detailed portraits of the French ruling family.

Condition: Good, given age. Light foxing. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
