Gerard Valck / Gerardus Valk (1652-1726) was an engraver and a printseller in Amsterdam. He was specialized in cartography and globes. His Celestial and Earth globes were innovative, based on the latest scientific information with less text and images, while his competitors sticked with the Blaeu designs based on Tycho Brahe. As such the Valck/Schenk firm gained an absolute monopoly in globe-making and selling that were sold throughout the 18th c.
Made by an anonymous engraver after Francesco Albani.
