This is an original antique print of the Fable of the Lion and the Horse from a French edition of “The Fables of Aesop”, by Francis Barlow, engraved after Barlow (1687), published in 1802 by Tardieu. Fables of Aesop or Aesopica refers to a collection of fables credited to Aesop (620-560 BC), a slave and story-teller who lived in ancient Greece. This antique copper engraving was printed in 1802 and is in fine condition. The overall size is 8 x 5 inch. The image size is 5 x 3 1/4 inch.
