BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Published by Jan de Lat (active 1734-1750), possibly as part of an emblematic or moralizing print series.
Biography artist: Cornelis Bloemaert (1603-ca.1684) was a Dutch engraver who trained in Utrecht and later worked in Paris and Rome. He was known for detailed reproductive engravings, particularly after his father, Abraham Bloemaert. Abraham Bloemaert (1566-1651) was a Dutch painter and printmaker, considered a founding figure of the Utrecht school. He was a major influence on Dutch Baroque art and produced both religious and genre scenes, many of which were widely disseminated in print.
