Archbishop Maury refusing to preach

“Mourir plutot que de ceder.” (Rather die than give in). The French Archbishop Maury refusing to preach the civil sermon as het sits on a throne surrounded by devils. Possibly related to the French archbishop and cardinal Jean-Sifrein Maury (1746-1817), who withstood revolutionary preasure defending royal and clergy interest. Any further input appreciated.
