This print was commissioned by P.G. Hamerton for his book “Etching and Etchers” published in an edition of 1000 copies. Signed and titled in the plate.

Made by ‘William Brassey Hole’ after own design. William Brassey Hole (Salisbury 1846 – Edinburgh 1917) was a Scottish landscape etcher and painter. Het studied at the Royal Academy Schools in London and began exhibiting there in 1873. He moved to Edinburgh around 1875 and became a member of the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Scottish Watercolour Society.

Condition: Very good, given age. Some staining in the margins, and a few faint stains in the top left corner of the image. Faint offsetting from the opposite text page in the book. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
