This print shows the carousel or equestrian ballet performed in a courtyard of the Hofburg, Vienna on January 24, 1667. In celebration of the wedding of Holy Roman emperor Leopold I to the Infanta Margarita Teresa of Spain. Leopold I (Leopold Ignaz Joseph Balthasar Franz Felician; 9 June 1640 ? 5 May 1705) was Holy Roman Emperor, King of Hungary, Croatia, and Bohemia.The floats and ephemeral structures are shown, notably the Temple of Eternity in the background.
