Biography engraver: Abraham Bloteling (1640-1690) was a Dutch printmaker / printer / publisher. He was a key figure in the introduction of mezzotint to England.
Biography artist: Reinier van Persijn (Dutch; ca. 1614-1688) originated from Alkmaar. He was a pupil of Cornelis Bloemaert and Theodoor Matham. After a trip to Italy Persijn settled in Gouda. Joachim von Sandrart der Alte (1606 ? 1688), born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, was a famour art historian, painter, engraver and translator. He travelled to the Netherlands, Rome and England, before settling in Ingolstadt.
