(‘Pleasure boating’). Surrealist drypoint etching showing a flying boat with several humanoid figures on it. Winged creatures (birdlike and angelical) surround the flying ship.
Drypoint etching on wove (vellin) paper.

Titled (‘Spelevaren’), technique identification (‘droge naald’ = drypoint), and marked artist’s proof (‘epr. d’artiste’) in the lower left just below the image. Signed and dated (‘Mick Jepkes 73’) in the lower right.
Made by ‘Michael Jepkes’ after own design. Michael Jepkes (Amsterdam 1938-) is a Dutch painter, graphic artist and draughtsman. He studied with Joseph Verheyen, Henk Koekkoek and Maarten Krabbe, at the Instituut Hendriks (Haarlem) and the Academie (Tilburg). Besides painting and drawing, he works in drypoint, colour etching and mezzotint. While his work is mainly figurative, he manipulates reality. His work is usually made as part of a series.
Condition: Very good, given age. Three tape remains (from attachment to carrier or matting) in the top margin. Margin edges very lightly soiled. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
