Made by an anonymous engraver after Jacques-Nicolas Bellin.
Medium: Engraving with hand colouring on hand laid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 43.7 x 31.2 cm (17.2 x 12.28 inch). Image size: 28.8 x 20.5 cm. (11.34 x 8.07 inch).
Condition: good, given age. Fold as published. Edges brownish. Crease in middle. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

This attractive print was published in ‘Le Petit Atlas maritime recueil de cartes et plans des quatre parties du Monde’. Paris: Bellin, 1764.
Biography artist: Jacques-Nicolas Bellin (1703 ? 1772) was a French hydrographer, geographer, and member of the French intellectual group called the philosophes. He was hydrographer of France’s hydrographic office, member of the Acad?mie de Marine and of the Royal Society of London. Over a 50-year career, he produced many maps of particular interest to the Minist?re de la Marine. His maps of Canada and of French territories in North America (New France, Acadia, Louisiana) are particularly valuable. .
