Copperplate engraving/etching on hand laid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 16,7 x 23,3 cm. (6,6 x 9,2 inch). Image size: 12,7 x 16,2 cm. (5 x 6,4 inch).

From: ‘Leeven en Daaden der Doorluchtigste Zee-helden, beginnende met de Tocht na Damiaten, voorgevallen in den Jare 1217. En eindigende met den beroemden Admirael M.A. de Ruyter’ by Lambert van den Bos(ch), published in Amsterdam 1683.

Made by ‘Jan Luyken’ after ‘Lambert van den Bosch’. Jan Luyken / Luiken (1649-1712) and his son Caspar made over 3000 etchings. He illustrated many emblematic and biblical works. In this work he illustrates his own work as an author. From his work one can read his creativity and imagination. Lambert van den Bosch (1620 – 1698), Dutch author.

Condition: Very good, given age. Browning of paper top and right edge. Brown spot left part of image General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
