Description
Attractive engraved plate showing a shepherd and a woman with a flock of sheep, as well as several travellers. Situated in a sunny, mountainous landscape, with a goat and cow as well. Rare.
Made by Johannes Visscher after Nicolaes Pieterszoon Berchem.
Medium: engraving / etching with hand colouring on hand laid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 51.5 x 40 cm (20.28 x 15.75 inch). Image size: 44.5 x 33 cm. (17.52 x 12.99 inch).
Condition: good, given age. Original middle fold, two repaired small tears in the lower margin (not affecting image), and a repaired tear in the left margin (a little into the image). General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
