Plate, showing shepherds with cattle crossing a river near a ruin. They are herding cows, goats and a donkey. Rare.
Made by Abraham Delfos after Nicolaes Pieterszoon Berchem.
Medium: original handcoloured etching/engraving on wove paper.
Sheet size: 52.5 x 45 cm (20.67 x 17.72 inch). Image size: 49.5 x 38.5 cm. (19.49 x 15.16 inch).
Condition: very good, given age. Remains of earlier framing to the rear, a small repaired tear in the top margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

Biography artist: Nicolaes Pieterszoon Berchem / Berghem (1620-1683) was a highly esteemed and prolific Dutch Golden Age painter of pastoral landscapes, populated with mythological or biblical figures, but also of a number of allegories and genre pieces.
