BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Part of the Cabinet Praun series, engraved after works attributed to Titian.
Biography engraver: Maria Katharina Prestel (1747-1794) worked together with her husband Johann Gottlieb Prestel (1742-1808) on several collections of printdrawings. They reached a very high quality in their prints. .
Biography artist: Titian (Tiziano Vecelli, c. 1488-1576) was a leading Italian Renaissance painter known for his vivid color palette, expressive brushwork, and influential depictions of landscapes.
