Description

Medium: Copper engraving, original hand-colored on hand laid (verge) paper.

Sheet size: 55.3 x 46 cm (21.77 x 18.11 inch). Image size: 60 x 50.3 cm. (23.62 x 19.8 inch).

Condition: very good, given age. Light foxing, creasing and soiling. Orignal middle fold as issued. A few small tears in top and bottom paper edge. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

Biography engraver: Frederik de Wit (1630-1706) was a Dutch cartographer, engraver, and publisher known for producing highly detailed maps, atlases, and globes. His work was widely distributed and later reissued by J. Covens & C. Mortier in Amsterdam.
