Source unknown, to be determined. Provenance: Collectionmark G.U in oval = G. Usslaub, an important 19th. C. collector from Marseille (Lugt 1221).

Made by Roger Marquis de Lagoy after probably Giovanni Francesco Barbieri (Guercino). The sheet mentions in pencil ‘grave par de Lagoy’. Roger Marquis de Lagoy was a French 18th. c. amateur etcher and designer. Giovanni Francesco Barbieri, il Guercino (1591-1666) worked in Bologna. His many drawings have a very distinctive character.

Condition: Very good, given age. Remains of paper on rear from attachment. Trimmed at plate mark left and right. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
