FRANCOIS DE BOURBON-ENGHIEN-COUNT-PORTRAIT-P.53 ‘Monsieur D’Anguian’ [Lord GOWER after CLOUET, 1875]

This scarce original antique print shows a portrait of Francois de Bourbon, Count of Enghien (23 September 1519 – 23 February 1546), a French prince of the blood. He was the son of Charles de Bourbon, Duke of Vendome and Françoise d’Alencon. Auto-lithographed from the originals at Castle Howard, Yorkshire.

Made by Lord Ronald Gower after Francois Clouet. Lord Ronald Charles Sutherland-Leveson-Gower (2 August 1845 – 9 March 1916), known as Lord Ronald Gower, was a Scottish Liberal politician, sculptor and writer from the Leveson-Gower family. Francois Clouet (c. 1510-1572), son of Jean Clouet, was a French Renaissance miniaturist and painter, particularly known for his detailed portraits of the French ruling family.

Condition: Good, given age. Light foxing. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
