After an etching from the series ‘Paradigmata graphices …’ by Jan de Bisschop, published in 1671. This etching in turn was based on Francesco Vanni and Giovanni Lanfranco.

Made by Johanna Willepoorts after Jan de Bisschop. We have not been able to find information on Johanna Willepoorts. Jan de Bisschop (1628-1671)was widely influential in art and art publishing. A lawyer by profession, he set up practice in The Hague around 1652 and later founded a drawing academy there. He mingled with an elite circle of intellectuals.

Condition: Good, given age. Overall browning, particularly in the corners. A few small tears at bottom middle, partly backed. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
