BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Published in Paris, likely shortly after Gerard Edelinck’s death.

Biography engraver: Nicolas-Etienne Edelinck (1681-1767) was a French engraver and son of Gerard Edelinck. He continued in his father’s artistic footsteps, producing commemorative portraits and reproductive engravings, often with high technical finesse.
Biography artist: Gerard Edelinck (1640-1707) was a Flemish-born engraver who became one of the most renowned portraitists in 17th-century France. He was appointed engraver to the king and became a member of the Royal Academy.
