BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Based on van Dyck’s Iconography portrait of Jan Snellinck.
Biography engraver: Bart Wigss was an 18th-century engraver, known for his portrait prints reproducing earlier master paintings.
Biography artist: Anthony van Dyck (1599-1641) was a Flemish Baroque artist who became the leading court painter in England. Known for his elegant portraiture, he also created a famous series of etched artist portraits, the “Iconography”.
