Description
Rare 17th-century etching by Jacques Lagniet, depicting beggars or “gueux” from his series Vie des Gueux (Book III). Scene shows four beggars or pilgrims engaged in conversation. Figures hold staffs, wear pilgrimage garb, with attributes such as scallop shells, and stand in a rural setting. Accompanying text includes a satirical poem.

Medium: Engraving on hand-laid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 24 x 19.8 cm (9.45 x 7.8 inch).
Condition: very good, given age. Light foxing and soiling. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
