JACQUES D’ALBON-SAINT ANDRE-PORTRAIT-P.110 ‘St. Andre le Jeune’ [Lord GOWER after CLOUET, 1875]

This scarce original antique print shows a portrait of Jacques d’Albon, Seigneur de Saint-André (c. 1505-1562), a French soldier and favorite of Henry II of France. He was made marshal of France, governor of Lyonnais and ambassador in England. Auto-lithographed from the originals at Castle Howard, Yorkshire.

Made by Lord Ronald Gower after Francois Clouet. Lord Ronald Charles Sutherland-Leveson-Gower (2 August 1845 – 9 March 1916), known as Lord Ronald Gower, was a Scottish Liberal politician, sculptor and writer from the Leveson-Gower family. Francois Clouet (c. 1510-1572), son of Jean Clouet, was a French Renaissance miniaturist and painter, particularly known for his detailed portraits of the French ruling family.

Condition: Good, given age. Light foxing. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
