Untitled. Delicate painting of a Mughal warrior in black coat on horseback, holding a pie, and with quivers at his side. The horse has barding. Text (not analysed) above the image. Originally Persian/Mughal/Indian minatures originate from books/diaries and were often removed to be collected in albums. Later recolouring of these items is common. Miniatures are still made today and regularly old paper with manuscript writing is used today to partly paint over with images painted after the historic original scenes depicting scenes of court life, hunting scenes and royal figures. We feel this item is such item. We have assessed this item as a 20th. c. painting on 16-18th. c. paper with original manuscript writing.Artists and Engravers: Unknown.
Condition: Good, given age. Left margin quite damaged. A large number worm holes in print and margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
