Antique drawing, titled: ‘Pugatschaff.’ – Illustration to Karl Gutzkow’s “Pugatschew, Trauerspiel in 5 Aufzugen”, showing the pretender in court, surrounded by several ladies and numerous soldiers. Yemelyan Pugachev was a pretender to the Russian throne who led a great Cossack insurrection during the reign of Catherine II. Source unknown, to be determined.Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Anonymous’ after an anonymous artist. By unknown probably German draughtsman.

Condition: Excellent, given age. Drawing attached to carrier sheet. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
