From a series titled: ‘Fleurs dessinees …’ Some of the plates in this series have the name of Carel Christiaan Antony Last named as the lithographer. This plate has no specific lithographer’s name. We assume it is by Last as well, although some sources ascribe it to van Spaendonck himself.
Made by Carel Christiaan Antony Last after Cornelis van Spaendonck. Carel Christiaan Antony Last (1808-1876) was a Dutch draughtsman, lithographer and artist. Cornelis van Spaendonck (1756-1839) was a Dutch painter from Tilburg. Spaendonck initially worked under artist Guillaume-Jacques Herreyns (1743–1827) in Antwerp, and in 1773 moved to Paris to study and work with his brother, floral painter Gerard van Spaendonck (1746–1822). From 1785 to 1808, he was associated with the porcelain works at Sevres.
