Attributed to and with manuscript signature at bottom right: G. van Spaendonck. Gerard van Spaendonck (Tilburg 1746-1822) was a famous Dutch painter of mostly botanical subject matter. He was the brother of Cornelis van Spaendonck (1756-1840). In 1769 he moved to Paris where he was highly succesful and worked at the court and the Jardin des Plantes. In 1804 he received the Legion d’Honneur and he was ennobled by Napoleon Bonaparte.

Condition: Very good, given age. Light ghosting from previous matting. Remains of tape on rear General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
