These 22 scarse prints originate from ‘Histoire de la Conquete des Isles Moluques …’, a French translation of the work of Bartolomé Leonardo de Argensola in Spanish, published by Jacques Desbordes, Amsterdam 1706. This work by Argensola (1562-1631) describes the first wars and conquests by the Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch and natives of the Moluccas and region in the early 17th. c.
