‘FIATOOKA OF KERKHOF VAN HET EILAND VAN TONGATABOO.’
This print shows the ceremonial burial grounds on the island of Tongatapu, the main island of Tonga. Cook returned to Tongatapu on his 3d voyage inbetween june-july 1777. He recorded visiting the burial grounds in his journal. The image originally appeared in the official account of Cook’s third voyage.
