Antique print, untitled. Scene from the history of Elisa. Originally published ca. 1620 and also published by C. I. Visscher in 1643 in his Theatrum Biblicum. State: Second state of 2 Ref: Hollstein 7Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Nicolaes Ryckemans’ after ‘Petrus de Iode’. Nicolaes Ryckemans (born ca. 1600. active 1616-1630) originated from Flanders. He worked in the studio of Rubens and was one of his favorite engravers, before working in Edam as engraver and editor. Petrus / Pieter de Jode I (1570-1634), was a Flemish Baroque painter and engraver. He learned drawing and engraving first from his father, the map maker Gerard de Jode, and later from Hendrik Goltzius. He was the teacher of his son Pieter de Jode II and others.

Condition: Fair, given age. Trimmed near plate mark. small restored tears. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
