Plate 64: ‘Perpetua ziet een gezigt’ (Perpetua sees a face). It shows: Perpetua sees a vision of people gathered around a ladder on which one person is climbing, a dragon standing at the bottom of the ladder. This original engraving originates from ‘Tafereelen der eerste Christenen, bestaande in 92 konstprenten’ (Scenes of the first Christians, in 92 prints). This book was published in 1740 in Amsterdam by Gerrity de Groot and Jacobus Rijkhof. The prints by Luyken are accompanied by texts by P. Langendyk and C.
