BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Biography engraver: Simon Fokke (1712-1784) was a Dutch designer, etcher, engraver, and occasional actor. A pupil of Jan Caspar Philips, he worked mainly for Amsterdam publishers, producing book illustrations, portraits, topographical views, and historical scenes. His prints are characterized by fine detailing and lively narrative compositions, often documenting contemporary events.
Biography artist: Isaak Tirion (1705 in Utrecht 1765 in Amsterdam) was an 18th-century publisher from the Dutch Republic.
