– Original antique print detailing the Relief of the Siege of Fort Knodsenburg, which occurred between July 21 and July 25, 1591. It depicts the tactical deployment of the Anglo-Dutch forces under Prince Maurice of Orange and Sir Francis Vere as they successfully broke the Spanish siege commanded by Alexander Farnese, the Duke of Parma.

Condition: good, given age. Original fold as issued. Paper partly browned. Some foxing and soiling. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

This plan originates from: ‘La genealogie des illustres comtes de Nassau’, published in Leiden, The Netherlands c. 1615.

Biography engraver: Bartholomeus Willemsz. Dolendo (c.1570-1626) was a Dutch engraver and printmaker known for his detailed historical and allegorical scenes. He worked in Leiden and contributed to historical books.

Biography artist: Jan Janszoon Orlers (1570-1646), Dutch historian.
