The coat of arms of the Slicher family on a monument, surrounded by four allegorical figures (Divine Love and Hope with three putti and a dog on the left and Prudence and History with a lion to the right). Book illustration, letterpress to the rear. Exact source unknown.Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Jan Wandelaar’ after own design. Jan Wandelaar (1690-1759) was a Dutch painter, engraver and etcher, born in Amsterdam. Wandelaar was a pupil of Folkema, van der Gouwen and De Lairesse. In turn he would teach Lyonet and Delfos. His anatomical engravings (for Ruysch’ Opera and Albinus Tabulae) are the main base for his renown and highly esteemed. He died in Leyden.
Condition: Good, given age. Print attached to carrier sheet. The margins a little stained. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
