Antique print, titled: ‘Fregat leggende ten anker.’ – A frigate, anchored near the coast. Edition printed by Van den Brink in Rotterdam in 1789.Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Gerrit Groenewegen’ after an anonymous artist. Gerrit Groenewegen (1754-1826) started his career as a ships’ carpenter. After an accident he lost a leg and was employed by Nicolaas Muijs. Groenewegen’s knowledge of ships combined with a drawing talent produced very good depictions of marine subjectmatter.

Condition: Very good, given age. Ample margins General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
