Biography engraver: Charles-Louis Baugniet (1814-1886) was a Belgian lithographer and portraitist. Known for refined lithographs of European aristocracy, artists, and public figures, he was appointed court painter in Belgium in 1841. Later active in London and Paris, Baugniet’s work bridged the transition from printed portraiture to photography.
