Plate, page 279: “Oude Grieksche Gods Dienst” (Ancient Greek religious practices). It shows believers practicing their faith around statues of Greek gods, among which the Statue of 12 Gods, statues of the personifications of the Sun, Moon, Earth, Sea, and a statue of Proserpina. This original engraving originates from: ‘Spiegel der Sibyllen, van Vierderley Vertooningen [etc.]’, by Johannes Aysma et al, published in 1685 in Amsterdam. (transl.: Mirror of sibyls / prophetess, of fourfold display.)Artists and Engravers: Artist and Engraver: Coenraet Decker (ca. 1650-1685) was a Dutch Golden Age engraver, and pupil of Romeyn de Hooghe.

Condition: Excellent given age. Original middle fold, paper loss repair to the bottom margin. General age related toning and light staining/thumbing. Please study scan carefully.
