Biography engraver: Pieter Tanje (1706-1761) was a Dutch engraver, etcher and draughtsman active in Amsterdam. He was one of the leading portrait engravers of the mid-18th century in the Dutch Republic, producing refined reproductive engravings after earlier Dutch masters.
Biography artist: Michiel Jansz. van Mierevelt (1566-1641) was a prominent Dutch portrait painter of the Golden Age. He worked in Delft and portrayed many members of the House of Orange and leading political figures. His formal court portraits served as models for numerous later engravings.
