Antique print, untitled. Hidden by a bush, a Daphnis is suckled by a goat. The surprised shepherd Dryas pulls the bush aside to show the Grotto of the Nymphs. From an edition of Daphnis and Chloe, published around 1800.Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Velard’ after ‘Prudhon’. Velard. We have not been able to further identify this 18th/19th century French engraver. Pierre-Paul Prud’hon (1758-1823) was a French Romantic painter and draughtsman.
Condition: Very good, given age. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
