Antique print, titled: ‘Prout’s Microcosm, plate 15.’ – This print shows several views of washerwomen in various European costumes. They are working by the edges of rivers, a well, and lakes. Printed by C. Hullmandel and published by C. Tilt of London. Artists and Engravers: Made by an anonymous engraver after ‘Samuel Prout’. Samuel Prout (1783-1852) was a renowned British watercolour artist. He was the teacher of John Ruskin, and comparable in style to Turner and Gainsborough.
Condition: Very good, given age. Some scattered stains in the image. A short crease from the middle of the image in the top left direction (4 cm.). General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
