4 Antique master prints, titled: ‘La Vue, L’Ouie, Le Toucher & Le Gout (Galerie de San Donato).’ – Four engravings of the senses (sight, hearing, touch and taste) after David Tanier the Younger. Each features two figures, one depicting the sense: writing, bagpipe playing, drinking wine and pinching one’s hand. Printed by A. Salmon. Artists and Engravers: Made by an anonymous engraver after ‘David Teniers the Younger’. Ea. print by a different engraver: L. Garred, Abel Lurat (French: 1829-1890), Gustave Greux and Edmond Ramus. David Teniers the Younger (1610-1690) was a Flemish artist, born in Antwerp. He was the son of David Teniers the Elder, while his son and grandson also became painters. He was a wildly prolific painter, creating over 900 works. During his life he started the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts, after having presided over the Antwerp guild of painters.
Condition: Excellent, given age. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
