BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Biography engraver: Jan de Visscher (1636-c.1692) was a skilled Dutch engraver known for his interpretations of Berchem’s pastoral scenes. He belonged to the prolific Visscher family of printmakers.

Biography artist: Nicolaes Pietersz. Berchem (1620-1683), Dutch painter and draughtsman of Italianate landscapes. His work inspired generations of engravers, including the Visschers.
