BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Biography engraver: Claude Duflos (1665-1727) was a French engraver known for his refined technique, active during the late 17th and early 18th centuries.
Biography artist: Gerard de Lairesse (1640-1711) was a talented Dutch Golden Age engraver, painter and art theorist. Born at Liege, 1660 to Berlin, 1665 to Amsterdam. moved to The Hague around 1684. Nicolaas Verkolje (1673-1746), Dutch draftsman and engraver.
