Description
Plate : ‘Les Hommes se Disputent’. (Gentlemen Disagree). An 18th century interior scene with 2 men quarrelling in a tavern or pub. Other men and woman standing and sitting around, some are drinking. Foreground left a dog and in the background a French soldier.
Made by Alexandre Chaponnier after Boily.
Medium: etching, aquatint etching and roulette engraving, with line finishing on wove paper.
Sheet size: 42.5 x 34 cm (16.73 x 13.39 inch). Image size: 39 x 31 cm. (15.35 x 12.2 inch).
Condition: very good, given age. Light foxing / staining in the margins. Small tear left bottom margin, not affecting image, backed. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
