Description
Original antique master print. It shows an idyllic rustic scene, with pastures in a mountainous landscape. Several cows and sheep are grazing and resting, also inside two natural caves. Two men are picking fruit on the foreground, while two other men stand at the edge of the river which crosses the center of the image.

Medium: engraving / etching on hand laid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 55 x 39.5 cm (21.65 x 15.55 inch). Image size: 52.5 x 38.5 cm. (20.67 x 15.16 inch).
Condition: very good, given age. Margins cropped close to the platemark. Small tears in the margins and corners restored with acid-free archival tape. Top left corner remargined and retouched. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

Biography artist: Thomas Smith of Derby (died 1767) was a British lanbdscape painter. He made numerous paintings of landscapes with historic houses. He was the father of John Raphael Smith of Derby.
