BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Large biblical print from the ‘Royaalbijbel’ series depicting Noah and his family entering the ark. Produced by the Visscher publishing house in Amsterdam, i.e. Claes Jansz. Visscher, Nicolaes Visscher (I and II), featuring intricate detailing and historical significance as part of a series popularized in the 17th century. Probably from a rare Royaal bible publishing for the English market, hence the red linework.
Reference: Hollstein Dutch 1-2(2).
