Medium: Crayon style lithograph with hand colouring on wove (vellin) paper.

Sheet size: 25.7 x 33.8 cm (10.12 x 13.31 inch). Image size: 20 x 24 cm. (7.87 x 9.45 inch).

Condition: good, given age. Light foxing, creasing, and soiling. Tears in right paper edge and middle left, backed. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Published and printed in Paris by Delpech, c.1824-1830.

Biography engraver: Francois Seraphin Delpech (1778-1825) was a prominent French lithographer and publisher in Paris during the early 19th century. He played an important role in the development and dissemination of lithography in France, reproducing works by leading contemporary artists and contributing to the popularity of hand-coloured genre prints.

Biography artist: Louis-Leopold Boilly (1761-1845) was a French painter and draughtsman known for his genre scenes, portraits, and depictions of Parisian life. His refined draftsmanship and keen observation made him highly successful during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Many of his compositions were reproduced as engravings and lithographs, extending his popularity across Europe.
