Description: One of two works which Cort engraved for Titian in Venice in the years 1570-1. Ref: New Hollstein Dutch & Flemish, Cort 191. Very rare.

Artists and Engravers: Made by Cornelio Cort after Titianus. Cornelis Cort (1533-1578) was a Dutch draughtsman and engraver. He was known as Cornelio Flammingo while he was in Italy (from 1565 until his death). He started an art academy in Rome, where Carracci was among his students.
