Description: This original antique master print published in Paris by Buldet, rue de Gesvres ca. 1765. Our definition of a Master Print is a seperately published print or series of prints, not being an illustrative print to a text. These can both be prints made by old masters (artists) or prints made by others (artists, engravers, etchers) after old masters.

Artists and Engravers: This plate by Huquire Fil. fec. after F. Boucher inv. Jacques Gabriel Huquier (17251805), also knowhn as Huquier fils was a portrait-painter and engraver. He was the son of the roccoco engraver Gabriel Huquier (16951772) and his wife Marie-Ann Desvignes. Huquier assisted his father in many of his engravings. He married Anne Louise, the daughter of the engraver Jacques Chereau, in 1758 in Paris. He collaborated as an engraver and printseller with his father-in-law. He later moves to England. Francois Boucher (1703-1770) was a French painter, who was a proponent of the Rococo style. Boucher is known for his idyllic and voluptuous paintings on classical themes, decorative allegories, and pastoral scenes. He was perhaps the most celebrated decorative artist of the 18th century.
