Description
Plate : ‘Le Ramoneur’. (The Chimney Sweep). This plate shows an 18th century interior scene with a woman, a boy and a little girl. The woman is holding a broom for sweeping the chimney. On the left there is a dog on a chair.

Medium: engraving / etching with hand colouring on hand laid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 34 x 45 cm (13.39 x 17.72 inch). Image size: 26.5 x 40 cm. (10.43 x 15.75 inch).
Condition: good, given age. Small tear bottom left margin, not affecting image. A few creases. Margins soiled and a few small spots. Overall a nice copy. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

Biography engraver: Nicolas Joseph Voyez (1742-1806), French engraver.
Biography artist: Jean-Baptiste Greuze (1725-1805) was a French painter, born in Tournus. He was taken under the wing of Grandon, who later took him to Lyon and Paris. From 1757 he exhibited in the Salon of the Academie.
