Plate : ‘La Petite Toilette’. (Small ablutions.) This plate shows an 18th century interior scene with a man of standing getting dressed and prepared for the day. He is surrounded by 5 servants and a dog.
Made by Pietro Antonio Martini after Jean-Michel Moreau.
Medium: etching / engraving with hand colouring on hand laid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 31 x 39 cm (12.2 x 15.35 inch). Image size: 23 x 27 cm. (9.06 x 10.63 inch).
Condition: very good, given age. A few small spots in the margins. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

Biography engraver: Pietro Antonio Martini (1738-1797), Italian engraver.
Biography artist: Jean-Michel Moreau (The Younger, 1741-1814) was a French draughtsman, illustrator and engraver. He was born in Paris, and the student of Le Lorrain. After a sojourn in St. Petersburg, Moreau returned to Paris in 1759, after the death of Le Lorrain. He then worked for Lebas, while making a name for himself.
